I’m often asked why my twitter/name is @artemisrex. Here, I will answer your questions + curiosities in one fell blog-post. My dad’s name is Arturo + my mon’s name is Maria. But he is often Art, and she is sometimes Max. So they were [+ still are]: Art & Max. When I was a kid, I remember my dad saying “Artemis Maximus.” Maybe we were wrestling? Maybe he made up a name for one of my transformers. I’m not precisely sure of the context, but I assure you it came outta left field. I don’t know why, but it resonated, and on some level I knew then, I was Artemis Rex.

It was years before I learned that “Rex” is Latin for son/descendant/scion. I was baptized Arturo. I grew into Art. And I am both. Artemis represents the conflict + harmony within this Rex.
